Day 8 in this love fest comes from my sweet friend, Kelsey. I just really like her so much. We first bonded pretending to be grandmas knitting on the steps of our fourth grade portable, so you know it was a match made in heaven right from the bat. There are so many things I love about Kelsey, but the main thing is her light. She really radiates love and goodness and all things warm and welcoming. She makes you feel safe, and I’m happy every time I get to see her. Also, she is fantastically witty and hilarious, and I LIVE for her family Halloween costume every year. This year they were DAVID PUMPKINS and if you know who that is, I think I speak for Kelsey and I both when I say, sign up to be our best friend ASAP. I love her simple metaphor on the love of our Heavenly Father, and I’m pretty sure you will, too:
“For just over a year, I’ve had a “special someone” in my life. His name is Winston, and he’s the cutest puppy I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. #biased
Winston perfectly fills his puppy role of loving EVERYONE. He’s got puppy licks to share with errybody. My favorite thing is that he still loves me, even when I don’t deserve it.
Sometimes I’m gone a lot. I spend a lot of time away from my house, whether I’m at work, out with friends, whatever. But every time I walk through the front door, Winston comes running, tail wagging and tongue flailing. And it feels so good. Every. Time.
For all my life, for all eternity, I’ve had a Heavenly Father. He loves everyone perfectly. And my favorite thing is that He loves me, even when I feel I don’t deserve it. Sometimes I’m gone a lot. I let my priorities become unfocused. I don’t pray the way I should. But when I come back and approach Him, He comes running, arms open. And it feels so good. Every. Time.”
